Therapy for College Students
College students may be facing some of the most difficult times in life. Teenagers currently deal with an incredible amount of pressure to go to college, suddenly figure out how to be an adult, get good grades, make an entirely new friend group, date while not getting hurt or hurting others, determine what they want to do with the rest of their life, and be happy and fulfilled by everything they do when doing it.
These demands are nearly impossible to meet for most, and can contribute to intense feelings of self-doubt, fear, panic, anxiety, and depression. It is not surprising, then, that there are a record number of college students struggling to function and who are seeking help.
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this hard.
Therapy can assist with providing college students a place to feel understood and heard, without the pressure of knowing all the answers or living up to preconceived expectations. Students can learn how to manage expectations, cope with stress and time constraints, build healthy relationships, engage in healthy behaviors and habits even within the confines of dorm life, and to find balance between being an adult and enjoying their last years of childhood.
Much of our practice consists of young adults and college students, so, in short, we get it. The last thing anyone needs is another authoritarian adult demanding conformity or perfection.
