We are so excited to announce the addition of a new trauma therapist to our growing team at MCIP! Please welcome Ms. Jenna D’Anna, LMSW! She’s an incredibly talented, warm, and energetic clinician who has much to offer her clients and colleagues alike.

Ms. D’Anna is a trauma-focused, relational therapist with 5+ years of clinical experience. Humor and compassion are central in her work, as well as focusing on empowering her clients to become more liberated and hopeful as they work through difficult challenges. Her work is based on a social justice, humanistic framework that seeks to meet individuals where they are. She believes deeply that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to understanding the mind-body connection. Education on the body, and how it stores stress has often been revelatory for her clients. All such important perspectives to take into such difficult and painful work!

Ms. D’Anna is certified and trained to respond to issues with intimate partner violence, to provide psychoeducational workshops for parents on trauma informed parenting skills and coping tools, and to provide long-term trauma-informed counseling covering issues related to anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, attachment trauma, complex PTSD, and crisis intervention.

For the past five years, Ms. D’Anna has established a Family Support Services Program that includes one-on-one counseling with parents and trauma-informed parenting workshops, with an emphasis on mindfulness.  She also is currently a candidate, and practicing trauma therapist, at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP) Trauma Studies Post Graduate Program. In this work, she has incorporated an integration of various modalities, including Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness techniques, and behavioral skills training.

Additionally, Ms. D’Anna is trained and certified in TraumaSmart, which is a nationally recognized program geared towards helping children and the adults who care for them address the negative impacts of trauma on the body. She has also led workshops and presented nationally on topics related to trauma and holistic approaches to working with parents and families. She is a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and will be eligible for her full clinical license May 2021.

We are so excited to have such a talented and passionate clinician on our team!
