Sophie Bailard, LMSW

Sophie Bailard is a relational, psychodynamic trauma therapist whose work centers on disconnection from the body, feelings and needs, and from people and communities. Sophie also specializes in working with people living with chronic pain and health conditions. Living in a body that hurts or doesn’t cooperate can be exhausting and lonely, and it can change how you see yourself and your life. Sophie offers a space to make sense of these experiences, grieve what has changed, and find ways to live more fully.

Many of the people she works with long for closeness and fear it at the same time. They find themselves falling back into the same patterns no matter how hard they try. Sophie is less interested in labeling what’s wrong than in understanding what your experiences have taught you, and why those lessons once made sense. She meets each person with warmth, curiosity, and acceptance, and she trusts that you carry an inner wisdom and a natural capacity to heal. As you come to know yourself more fully, you can make clearer choices about how you want to live.

Sophie draws on mindfulness to help you reconnect with your body. Together you’ll slow down and notice what’s happening physically, how sensations shift, and how you respond and show up with yourself and others. Over time, this can help you feel more at ease within yourself.

Sophie sees clients in person in New York City and virtually throughout New York State.
